Nicki is an accomplished and accredited rowing coach, and former elite athlete with experience coaching some of Australia's leading rowing programs, including Ballarat Clarendon College, Firbank Grammar School and Wilderness School. A former elite-level sculler herself, Nicki competed amongst the top women's scullers in Australia, making multiple A finals at the Australian Rowing Championships following a junior/underage career that included national medals, State team selection and Australian trials. Now coaching through Ratio Theory Rowing, Nicki is known for helping athletes maximise boat speed through technical efficiency, smart training and individualised coaching. She has a particular reputation for developing smaller athletes into exceptionally fast rowers on the water.
Nicki believes great coaching is about far more than training programs and erg scores. Every athlete is coached as an individual, with an approach tailored to their goals, experience, strengths and lifestyle. Her coaching combines high performance standards with genuine holistic support, creating an environment where athletes can build confidence, consistency and long-term improvement.
She is passionate about giving athletes from smaller clubs and programs access to professional-level coaching usually reserved for major high performance systems. Whether working with junior, school, masters or high-performance athletes, Nicki focuses on developing technical skill, fitness and sustainable speed on the water. She has also helped athletes return successfully from injury and illness to achieve performances they once thought impossible.
